FROM THE SKI DECKBy Pat Piech, VP of Trips

Well I start this article with some good news and some bad news. First with the good news: we have been able to expand (by a little) the trip to Park City. I do hope that everyone that wanted to get on the trip will be skiing the fabulous Utah powder.

Unfortunately, my bad news is that we have to cancel the Winter Park trip in February. It is very rare that we are forced to cancel a trip, but the lack of interest in the trip made the decision necessary. We could not run the trip at the costs published with the numbers that had signed up.

As far as the other trips for the season, we still have space on the Heavenly trip in January, Crested Butte in February and Jackson Hole in March. As far as our overseas trips, Neustift, which will be awesome, has space and we are still in the sign up phase for Thailand. So as you can see, there are still plenty of opportunities to travel with your friends at SCSC.

Plus, even though a trip is listed as sold out, if your time is flexible, I still encourage you to talk to the trip leader and get on a wait list. Many times trips will have space open up prior to departure.

One note on Crested Butte. It promises to be a fabulous trip. The resort has invested a ton of money in upgrading the mountain plus our accommodations are truly ski-in and ski-out. It will definitely be one of the highlights of the ski season.

By the time you receive this issue, the TSC Fall Round-Up trip to Breckenridge will be departing soon and, according to recent weather reports, the snow should be great.

As the weather gets cooler, I can’t help but get excited about an upcoming terrific ski season.

See you on the slopes.

From the Membership Desk:

From the Membership Desk:

Did you know that 1 in 6 SCSC members is NEW to our club???

That's right! The "Recruit New Members" Contest that Barbara Della Longa did such a GREAT job of managing
has definitely had an impact on membership.

So we challenge every member that if you are at a meeting, activity, or on a trip and you see someone that doesn't look familiar, strike up a conversation!
If you need some conversation-starters, how about...
"So, where are you skiing this year? "
"Have we met?"
"Hello, My name is _____________. What's yours?"

Pretty simple, right? You don't need tips from me...just be your naturally friendly self as all SCSC members are and extend the welcome!

Finally, if EVERYONE will continue to recruit new members, we will ensure the present and future fun-factor of SCSC. And that's what it's all
about...HAVING FUN WITH GREAT PEOPLE!!! We all know
SCSC has the best people in Houston as members.
Please recruit everyone you know to be a member, too!

Happy Skiing!!
