Wow! Here it is December already! We have eaten our turkey, shopped on Black Friday and gone to Winter Park and back. Judy Shiro’s group should be swishing down the slopes in Vail as you read this! Next thing you know we will have been to Alaska and everywhere in between so don’t let the time get away from you if you still haven’t gotten off the fence and committed to a trip. Talk to the TC’s, there mightbe a couple of places left here and there and occasionally a person has to cancel and a spot becomes available. Check out the online Sitz for Post Trip articles. There is a great article online in the November Sitz by Vicki Faulkner, covering all of the highlights of SCSC’s trip to Panama this summer.
You may have heard us mention the Sunshine Kids Auction once or twice recently. That is because it is a long standing tradition for SCSC and we want to insure that it is a tradition that keeps growing. Peggy Montgomery has been kind enough to volunteer to coordinate this event for our December 14th meeting at Dave & Buster’s in the Showroom. Please contact Peggy at peggymont@att.net should you have any services or items you would like to donate to the event. We need everyone’s support in both donating and purchasing to make this valuable contribution to these children. Please be sure to attend in December and bring a friend or neighbor to also share in our holiday goodwill.
Our January meeting will be held the third Monday, January 18th, to accommodate the TSC Traditional trip to Breckenridge which returns on the 17th. I have arranged for Dr. Jeffery Ross, DPM, MD, to speak to us on the topic of “Preparing Yourself for Ski Season, Preventing Injuries and Proper Boot Selection and Fit”. He is quite knowledgeable from an educational standpoint and is a former member of the National Ski Patrol and a ski racer himself. I think you will find his program very informative and entertaining so don’t forget to mark your calendars in January.
Finally, on behalf of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Space City Ski Club, I would like to extend our sincere best wishes to all of you for a happy and healthy holiday season. See you on the slopes and think SNOW! |
